Description

NGC 7822 is a nebula located in Cepheus, around 3000 l.y. from Earth. It contains the Berkeley 59 cluster of young stars (2 million years) situated in the lower right part, among the dark nebulosities. A particularly hot star in this cluster is actually shaping the "elephant trunk" structures (which is actually they are called, just like those in the Pillars of Creation) seen in the central part.

This is a deep exposure in SHO palette. It's one of my favorite nebulae in narrowband, the field is very rich in structures and colors.
